Privacy policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
BitsyPaws ("we," "us," "our") operates the online store at bitsypaws.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. We collect only what we need to take your order, deliver it, and improve the store.
What we collect
Information you give us
- When you place an order: your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, phone number and the details of your order.
- Payment information: processed by Western Bid, Inc. (our Merchant of Record) through PayPal and Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- When you contact us by email or social media: whatever you include in your message, including your social media username if you write to us there.
- When you sign up for emails: your email address and, if you provide it, your first name.
- When you leave a review or ask about sizing: whatever you tell us about your pet, such as breed, age, weight or size.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the store we collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the site or ad that brought you here. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described under "Cookies and advertising" below.
How we use it
- To process and ship your order, send confirmations and tracking, and handle returns, exchanges and refunds.
- To answer your questions and provide customer support.
- To send you marketing emails about new products and offers, if you have agreed to receive them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand how the store is used and improve it.
- To measure and show our advertising on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Google.
- To prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We share only what each partner needs in order to do its job.
- Western Bid, Inc. is the Merchant of Record for all purchases made in this store and processes payments through PayPal and Stripe. Western Bid receives your name, email address, billing and shipping address, phone number and order details, and handles payment, refunds and related support. This is why "WESTERN BID" appears as the payee on your PayPal account or card statement.
- Shopify hosts our store, checkout and customer accounts.
- Our fulfillment partners and shipping carriers receive your name, shipping address, phone number and order details so your order can be packed and delivered. Some of our products ship from overseas, including from China, so this information is transferred outside your country.
- ParcelPanel provides order tracking on our site.
- Meta (Instagram and Facebook) and Google receive browsing and conversion data through cookies and pixels, so we can measure and show advertising.
- Our email marketing provider sends our marketing emails, and receives your email address and first name if you have signed up.
- Our customer support tools receive the information you include in your messages to us.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to enforce our terms, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a sale, merger or reorganisation of our business.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and advertising
Some cookies are necessary for the store to work, for example to keep items in your cart and to remember your preferences. These cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies help us see which pages are popular and where visitors come from. Advertising cookies and pixels let us measure our ads and show them to people who have visited the store.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the store may then stop working.
Like most online stores, we let Meta and Google collect browsing data through pixels for advertising. Some US state privacy laws, including California's, describe this as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out at any time through the "Your privacy choices" link in our footer, and we honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals sent by your browser.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- ask us to delete your personal information, unless we are required to keep it;
- opt out of marketing emails at any time;
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for advertising.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in the UK or the EU: we process your information to perform our contract with you (fulfilling your order), to comply with legal obligations, with your consent (marketing emails and non-essential cookies), and for our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the store. You may also object to or ask us to restrict processing, ask for your data in a portable format, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
To make a request, email support@bitsypaws.com. We will respond within 45 days, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. An authorised agent may make a request on your behalf with proof of authorisation.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally seven years. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Support messages are kept for two years after your issue is resolved. If you ask us to delete your information, we remove it from our active systems within 30 days, although copies may remain in routine backups for a short period afterwards.
Keeping it safe
Our store runs on Shopify, which encrypts data in transit and handles checkout to PCI-DSS standards, and payments are processed by Western Bid through PayPal and Stripe. We limit who on our team can access customer information. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Children
Our store is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we will change the date at the top of the page. For significant changes we will post a notice on the site or email you.
